A shared history
Kihachiro Onitsuka founded Onitsuka Co. in 1949; the Mexico 66 (1966) was among the first shoes to wear the famous stripes. In 1977 the company merged into Asics — and decades later, Onitsuka Tiger was revived as the heritage fashion line while Asics carried the performance torch.
